Care + Inclusion Specialist (multiple openings)
Camp Settoga is looking for empathetic and hardworking individuals to join our Care and Inclusion Team this summer! Under the supervision of the Care + Inclusion Directors, the Care + Inclusion Specialist will be assigned to work with a caseload of campers to support their mental, emotional, social and/or physical health needs. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who are looking to enhance their clinical skills in working with children while also being part of an energetic and fantastic community.
We are looking for individuals who have a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other relevant education and can commit to spending 5 days a week for seven weeks at camp; and some pre-camp work, including orientation days.
Responsibilities:
- Review relevant camper information prior to staff orientation and have a strong understanding of individual campers' strengths, needs, and challenges.
- Be a leader in the camp community, modeling best practices in speaking with children in age-appropriate ways, and managing challenging moments.
- Partner with counselors, specialists, and Unit Heads to meet the individual needs of camper caseload.
- Serve as a resource for staff to help them understand age-appropriate behavior and effective behavior management strategies.
- Observe campers to better understand behaviors and social dynamics.
- Develop and implement Camper Success Plans to provide additional support for campers who exhibit challenging behaviors and need accommodations and/or interventions to engage successfully in daily camp activities.
- Maintain adequate documentation of communication and interventions with campers and families.
- Communicate with families and outside supports as needed.
- Plan and facilitate at least 5 weekly social-emotional learning small-group learning sessions.
- Support and/or facilitate special activities as needed to address group challenges.
- Provide a listening ear and refer to Care + Inclusion Directors when staff mental, emotional, or social health challenges arise.
- Participate in weekly Care and Inclusion Team supervision meetings and weekly Leadership Team meetings.
Qualifications:
- Professional experience in supporting children, teens, and young adults' mental, emotional, and social health.
- Holds a degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other related fields.
- Must be caring, patient, collaborative, flexible, a critical thinker, and a team player.
- Possess exceptional engagement and relationship-building skills, with comfort communicating with children, young adults, and families.
- Attention to detail in documentation and maintaining records.
- Previous experience working at a camp or similar setting preferred.
Salary Range: $6,000 - 7,500

FLSA Status: exempt
Date: 6 Leadership Team Orientation meetings in May + June. Orientation June 22-29th, timing TBD. Summer 2025- June 30th through August 15th, 2025, 8am-5:00pm.
