Care Team Specialist (multiple openings)
Camp Settoga is looking for empathetic and hardworking individuals to join our Care Team this
summer! Under the supervision of the Care Team Director, the Care Team Specialist will be
assigned to work with one Unit (age division) to support the social-emotional well-being of those
campers and counselors. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who are looking to enhance
their clinical skills in working with children and young adults while also being part of an energetic
and amazing community.
We are looking for individuals who have or are working towards a master's degree in social
work, psychology, counseling, or other relevant education and can commit to spending eight
weeks at camp.
Responsibilities:
● Review relevant camper forms prior to staff orientation and have a strong understanding
of individual campers' strengths, needs, and challenges.
● Partner with counselors, specialists, and Unit Head to meet the individual needs of all
campers.
● Serve as a resource for staff to help them understand age-appropriate behavior and
effective behavior management strategies of young children.
● Observe campers and staff in activities to better understand behaviors and social
dynamics; facilitate special activities as needed to address group challenges.
● Develop and implement Camper Success Plans to provide additional support for
campers who exhibit challenging behaviors and need accommodations and/or
interventions to positively engage in daily camp activities.
● Maintain adequate documentation of interventions with campers and staff.
● Communicate with families and outside supports, as directed and supervised by the
Care Team Director.

● Serve as an emotional resource to staff as needed.
● Assist in planning and implementation of staff training during orientation and throughout
the summer as related to mental, emotional, and social health.
● Participate in daily Care Team check in meetings and weekly Leadership Team
meetings.
Qualifications:
● Experience supporting the mental, emotional, and social health of children, teens, and
young adults.
● Working towards or degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other related fields.
● Must be caring, patient, collaborative, flexible, a critical thinker, and team player.
● Possess exceptional engagement and relationship-building skills, with comfort
communicating with children, young adults, and families.
● Attention to detail in documentation and maintaining records.
● Previous experience working at a camp or similar setting preferred.
