Seasonal summer 2025 Day Camp position
Orientation - June 10-16. 2025
Camp in session: June 17-August 14, 2025 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
plus specialist Leadership Orientation - 3 evenings between April-June
Overview:
Care + Inclusion Team staff are responsible, enthusiastic, motivated and highly skilled individuals with a passion for youth mental health and supporting children's social, emotional, and behavioral needs. They work in collaboration with the Camp Director and Site Director to ensure behavioral and support plans for individual children are properly carried out in partnership with service providers.
The Care + Inclusion Team members work to create a warm, safe, and inclusive environment for young campers who are beginning their camp experience. Day Camp @ The JCC is our in-building camp for children ages 3-5. They create an environment where campers feel empowered to discover new interests, build and strengthen friendships, and gain a stronger sense of confidence and independence throughout the summer. Day Camp @ the JCC infuses fun, engaging programming with age-appropriate developmental skills.
As early childhood professionals, Care + Inclusion Team Members understand the importance of creating a safe, nurturing environment that serves as a strong foundation for children's exploration - deeply, with meaning and joy.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work directly with campers who need extra support during various moments throughout the day (separation, transitions, etc.)
- Become familiar with campers you're supporting and have a strong
understanding of their strengths, needs, and challenges - Discuss camper involvement and concerns with directors
- Collaborate with counselors and leadership staff to develop and implement strategies to support camper(s)
- Communicate regularly with families to keep them up to date on their child's wellbeing
- Communicate with external service providers when needed
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers by enforcing rules and expectations of the camp
- Serve as a role model for campers and staff, including participating in all activities and using positive, strengths-based language
- Work in partnership with group leaders, counselors, specialists, and directors
- Participate in weekly all-staff meetings
Qualifications:
- Experience in the field(s) of Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, or Early Childhood
- A graduate degree earned or in progress in Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, Early Childhood or a similar field
- Demonstrated interest and experience in working with children who are neurodivergent or have other social/emotional/behavioral/mental health needs
- Experience working in early childhood settings
- Organizational skills, note-taking skills, and comfortable communicating with a team and with families.
- Possess exceptional engagement and relationship-building skills, with comfort and ability to communicate with children.
- Previous experience working at a camp or similar setting is preferred.
Compensation:
- Salary for the summer: $5,500+ (commensurate with experience)
