Camp Settoga offers campers room to grow, explore, and discover outdoor adventure on 21 pristine acres in Pamona, New York (Rockland County). Part of the Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center of Manhattan, Camp Settoga has an especially dedicated staff who understand and contribute to its campers' growth and development and provide pathways to Jewish life and identity. Camp Settoga serves children ages 4-12 years old who come in from Manhattan.

We are looking for enthusiastic counselors to provide leadership, guidance and supervision for assigned groups of campers, ensuring a quality experience for the children and their parents. As role models and team players, Camp Settoga Counselors are respectful and caring individuals who create positive, nurturing relationships with children. Camp Settoga Counselors are passionate, organized and upbeat. Camp for Summer 2025 will be in session from June 30th through August 15th with a staff orientation from June 22nd through June 26th. Additionally, over the summer there may be up to two late nights or overnights, depending on the assigned camp group, over the summer.

Responsibilities:

Camp day-to-day

• Serve as a role model for campers and staff
• Establish and monitor a positive group environment
• Help campers maintain a positive attitude throughout the camp day
• Ensure campers' daily health and wellness, specifically hydration and regular bathroom visits
• Maintain bunk backpack with all necessary supplies
• Participate in all activities

Activity planning

• Help generate ideas for bunk activities
• Prepare for and participate in all bunk activities
• Communicate with specialists/instructors as to how you can best support them

Camper supervision and written work

• Help to mediate conflicts between campers
• Communicate issues between campers or between staff to the Head Counselor
• Assist the Head Counselor in preparing for activities and written work (camper portraits in 4th week of session; newsletters every week)

Qualifications:

16+ years old

Anyone under 18 is required to obtain working papers
