The Davidson Fishberg Center for Health and Wellness at the Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center in Manhattan (the JCC) is looking for an enthusiastic and responsible individual to fill a Full-Time Manager on Duty (MOD) position for the Fitness Center Reception Desk

The Manager on Duty acts in a supervisory capacity when on shift, makes adjustments to the schedule when needed, and addresses issues with necessary follow-up to the Director. In addition, the MOD is responsible for writing and sending the daily shift reports.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Warmly greet members and guests as they arrive and depart the fitness center, using names when possible. Check members and guests into the facilities and classes. Provide information and answer questions in a clear and friendly manner.

Verify account status. Notify members, record any problems with their accounts, and offer 
to help resolve issues. Handle complaints and concerns in a timely or immediate fashion when possible.

Monitor equipment and report repairs. Have a basic knowledge of how each piece of 
equipment operates. Adhere to safety policies and procedures.

Stay aware of potential hazards or unsafe conditions and report them immediately to management, facilities, and maintenance. Perform administrative duties, including sending and receiving daily emails, computer entry, photocopying, printing, etc.

Respond immediately to all emergency situations in the building by calling security. In case of an emergency, MODs need to document the incident, obtain pertinent information, and follow up with management and Security. Adhere to all dress code regulations. Be familiar with and enforce member service standards. Exhibit awareness of and enthusiasm for all programs offered by the Club.

As needed, assist with special projects, events, and promotions. Attend all meetings and training sessions as required.

ADDITIONAL FULL-TIME REQUIREMENTS

Check inventory and maintain all saleable front desk items. Take attendance for all group fitness classes, confirming that all registrants are current fitness center members. For non-fitness members, a class card or payment is required.

Schedule massages, group exercise classes, assessments, wellness coaching, and appointments. Before scheduling an appointment, make sure the member or guest has purchased a session or package.

Follow established procedures for collecting money and preparing receipts. Distribute towels, locker keys, and vanity products. Inspect locker rooms periodically (5 th floor fitness reception). Monitor lost and found items.

Working New Year's Day at our annual Fitness festival is mandatory.

When the Engagement team is unavailable, MODs are required to assist with potential member tours. This includes contacting the potential member to confirm their appointment, sending the health declaration in advance, providing a friendly tour of the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors, and sending follow-up notes to Membership.

Model the highest standards of safety for fellow staff and members. Reported COVID symptoms to a supervisor immediately, and follow best practices recommended by the CDC should be followed. Ensure that members comply with all health and safety protocols, such as hand-washing, hand-sanitizing, social distancing, and wiping down equipment.

Respond to issues around health & safety measures and engage supervisor support or Security when necessary to de-escalate any situation.

Keep Director and others informed of any health & safety issues, reports of ill members, reports of Covid being reported to JCC in person, email or phone.


REQUIREMENTS

High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience in a similar environment is preferred.

Current CPR certification or a willingness to become certified (training can be provided) and maintain certification for use if needed. 


Computer literacy: Word, Excel, and a willingness to learn other computer programs as required 
by the job. Mindbody knowledge is preferred.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and member service skills.


Hospitality mindset and ability to identify and implement solutions.

At ease with a variety of physical activities, including lifting objects or weights up to 45
