The Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center Manhattan is looking for a Director of Youth Coaching to join their team! The Director of Youth Coaching will lead the charge in sustaining our premier coaching program within our Youth Athletics Department. With an emphasis on children's growth and skill development, our programs are enriching, high-quality, and age-appropriate. We offer over 30 sports classes a week for children ages 18 months to 13 years ranging from basketball, tennis, pickleball, sports fundamentals, and more. Our goal is to instill a love of sports and movement within our athletes and we do so through a positive, child-focused approach. In this full-time role, the Director of Youth Coaching will lead 15-20 sports classes each week with the help of 1-2 assistant coaches.
In addition to coaching, a key aspect of the Director of Youth Coaching role is training, supporting, and empowering a staff of coaches, ensuring they have the tools and skills to deliver exceptional experiences. This aspect of the position is done in collaboration with the Associate Director of Youth Coaching. Lastly, the role includes administrative work and managerial responsibilities for the department that include collaborating with others in a timely, effective manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee a leveled youth athletics program that includes skill progression, instills a love for sports at an early age, and provides a pathway for aspiring young athletes to excel in sports through structured coaching and developmental milestones.
- Co-develop and implement a comprehensive coaching curriculum for youth sports programs for children ages 18 months-13 years.
- Lead recreational and skill-building classes for younger children, ensuring foundational techniques are taught in a fun, engaging and developmentally appropriate manner.
- Conduct classes for older children with a focus on game play, strategy, and advanced skills development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among youth participants.
- Communicate regularly with families to update them on their child's progress and program developments.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of coaches, and provide ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Co-plan bi-weekly staff meetings for coaches with a focus on professional development and skill-building
- Create a collaborative team culture that encourages mutual respect, open communication, and continuous learning among coaches, athletes, and families, ensuring a supportive environment where everyone works together towards shared goals of personal growth and team success.
- Collaborate with other departments within the JCC to coordinate scheduling, facility usage, and program logistics.
- Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of coaching programs through feedback, surveys, and performance metrics.
- Stay current with trends and best practices in youth coaching, sports psychology, and child development.
- Manage daily departmental administrative work in a timely and efficient manner

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Education, Psychology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in coaching youth sports, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and the ability to apply them while coaching.
- Ability to inspire and motivate youth athletes and coaches alike.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong role model for coaches and children.
- Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive environment.
- First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Must be available to work some late nights and Sundays each semester.

Work Schedule: This role is in office 5 days a week in the Upper West Side.
Salary Range: The position offers an annual salary of $75,000.
