POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Full-Time Membership Associate
Department: Membership
Reports To: Director of Membership
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Date: October 2022
General Purpose of the Position:
A Member Services Associate is a frontline, sales, and constituent ambassador position that plays a key role within the Membership Department and the larger JCC institutional picture. The primary role of a Membership Associate is to (1) welcome, tour, educate and sell prospective members on the JCC's various membership categories, (2) assist and respond to current member needs and (3) ensure the retention of our membership base through dedicated customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work in the Membership Office located within the building's Lobby
- Welcome and educate visitors and prospective members to the JCC by identifying their interest in membership options
- Give customized tours of the JCC that suit prospective member interest by utilizing a "consultative approach"
- Arrange for trial passes, coordinate information and help connect people to programs that will provide an enriching JCC experience
- Answer phone calls and walk-in inquiries about JCC Membership
- Execute account changes, onboard and process new and renewing membership sales
- Facilitate communication between members/guests and other areas of the organization such as the Health Club
- Support retention and sales goals via phone, email and mail outreach
- Support marketing strategies including the execution of marketing promotions and special membership campaign events such as Open Houses, New Year's Day Fair and JCC presence at summer street fairs
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Friendly, flexible, responsible, detailed oriented and a team player a must
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
- A patient and calm demeanor is very important
- Ability to multi-task and be comfortable with busy environments
- High level customer service mindset
- Ability to handle and resolve challenging customer interactions
- Excellent trouble-shooting skills
- Evening and Sunday availability required
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:
- Computer-literate and web-savvy
- Customer database experience preferred
- Member enrollment software experience a plus
Education and Experience Required:
- College Degree Preferred
- Prior customer service experience required
- Prior phone, telemarketing or call center experience preferred
- Prior experience in the health club industry a plus
- Candidates with Community Center and Non-Profit experience are encouraged to apply
Physical Demands:
Employees are regularly required to sit for long periods of time, to listen and hear, and to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment. Employees are regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time while leading tours around the building. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Most of the work of a Membership Associate is determined by the flow of public traffic. A "teamwork ethic" is ensured in order for the department to work successfully during both high and low traffic times. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to heavy.
Salary Range:
$40,000 to $45,000 with the opportunity for team bonus' when monthly sales goals are reached which ranges from $140 to $280.
