Job Title: Aquatics CPO
Classification: Exempt (Seasonal)
Reports to: Assistant Director of Camps, who oversees camp programming
Position Purpose:
To further the camp's mission through daily pool maintenance at the camp's pool to keep the aquatics program safe and fun. The CPO will work alongside the Aquatics Director to provide management to the physical operation of the aquatics facilities and equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Overall pool management:
- Supervise all daily readings in both pools for anything unusual.
- Check pump rooms and chlorinators to make sure they are sufficiently stocked as well as report any issues.
- Enter and report information in the log book
- Oversee and teach lifeguards to perform chemical readings.
- Follow all DOH guidelines to disinfect the pool if needed
- Pool Cleanliness:
- Clean all filters at least once a week
- Manually vacuum the main pool - once a week or more as needed
- Maintain needed chemical supplies in the pump room at all/most times
- Check for expiration and Replenish reagents as needed
- TP filters should be changed and cleaned twice a week
- Clean vacuum bag daily
- Vacuum to go into the main pool everyday.
- Baskets in the main pool to be cleaned once a day.
- Clean scum line in the Main Pool and Training Pool weekly or more as necessary.
- Chemical Checks and Reports:
- Check alkalinity in both pools 3x a week. Add sodium bicarb as needed.
- Troubleshoot pump room as needed.
- Report any pump room or pool deck anomalies
Other Job Duties:
- Order supplies accordingly
- Be present during DOH visits on site
- Work in partnership with Aquatics director(s)
Relationships:
Aquatics CPO's often have direct relationships with the maintenance staff in terms of facility and equipment needs. CPO's will also work closely with the Aquatics Director(s), Lifeguards, Operations Manager and the Assistant Director of Camps.
Qualifications: (Minimum qualifications and experience)
- Current certification in CPR PRO
- CPO certification
- Previous experience working as a CPO
- Desire and ability to work in an outdoor team environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to schedule and supervise staff
- Desire and ability to work with children outdoors
- CPO certification
Physical Aspects of the Position:
- Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
Some physical requirements of an Aquatics CPO position could be endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate program equipment and activities. Requires a range of hearing and eyesight to appropriately record, prepare, and safely communicate camper and staff activities/programs. Willing to spend time in a day camp setting Monday-Friday Operate with daily exposure to various weather conditions.
Salary Range: $4,000 - $5,000
