POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Havurah Teacher
Department: Center for Family Life
Reports to: School Age Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Date: October 2023
Job Overview: Havurah is an alternative Jewish education opportunity for children in Pre-K through first grade, focused on fostering Jewish community and identity through hands-on learning about Jewish stories, values, traditions, culture, holidays and more.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with co-teachers to plan innovative, developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters Jewish community and identity
- Lead children in a variety of classroom based experiences
- Classroom management
- Collaborate with art and music specialists
- Communicate, and build relationships with parents and families
Qualifications:
- Availability from 3:00-5:00 on 26 Saturdays between October and May
- Understanding of child development and a deep commitment to working with children
- Love for Judaism and a wide range knowledge of biblical and Jewish folk stories, as well as Jewish values, culture, customs and traditions
- Experience teaching and creating developmentally appropriate and exciting curriculum for children
- Strong writing skills and the ability to convey weekly learning experiences to parents through reflections
Salary Range: $70-$80 per hour ($140-$160 per session)
Location and Commitments: 3:00-5:00 on Saturdays, October 2023 - May 2024
